FAQs & Wedding Information

1. Should I book at Dreams Playa Mujeres or Secrets Playa Mujeres?

Answer: Secrets Playa Mujeres is an adults-only resort, meaning it is exclusively for guests aged 18 and older. If you're traveling with children, we recommend booking at Dreams Playa Mujeres, which is family-friendly. Both resorts are connected, so adults will have access to both properties.

2. Can I bring children?

Answer: Children are not permitted at Secrets Playa Mujeres. However, if you plan to bring children, you should book at Dreams Playa Mujeres. Our wedding ceremony and reception will take place at Dreams Playa Mujeres, so children are welcome to attend.

3. Will I need a U.S. passport and how do I get one?

Answer: Yes, all U.S. citizens need a valid U.S. passport to travel to Mexico. To get one, you’ll need to visit a passport acceptance facility (such as a post office) or apply online if you’re renewing. Make sure to apply at least 8-10 weeks before your departure to avoid any delays. You’ll need proof of U.S. citizenship (like a birth certificate) and a government-issued ID (like a driver’s license). Visit the U.S. Department of State website for detailed instructions and fees.

4. Is the resort all-inclusive and what does all-inclusive mean?

Answer: Yes, Secrets Playa Mujeres & Dreams Playa Mujeres are all-inclusive resorts. This means that your accommodation, meals, drinks (including alcoholic beverages), entertainment, and many activities are included in your room rate. You won’t have to worry about extra charges for food and drinks at most of the resort's restaurants, bars, and lounges, as well as for some of the resort activities.

5. What airport should I book my flight to?

Answer: You should book your flight to Cancun International Airport (CUN). It’s the primary international airport serving Cancun and the surrounding areas. It is approximately a 30-minute drive to Secrets Playa Mujeres & Dreams Playa Mujeres from the airport.

6. How do I get from the airport to the resort?

Answer: You can book your airport transportation via bus when you reserve your room through our wedding website. The resort offers convenient, round-trip transfers from Cancun International Airport to Secrets Playa Mujeres. Once you’ve booked your room and transportation, a shuttle bus will be waiting for you at the airport to take you directly to the resort. There will be no need to worry about taxis or other forms of transportation.

7. What is the dress code for the wedding and resort?

Answer: For the wedding, we kindly request formal attire. Please dress to impress—we want everyone to look and feel their best. Since you’ll be in a tropical location, light fabrics and breathable clothing are ideal. For the resort, the dress code is casual and comfortable. However, some of the resort’s fine-dining restaurants may require men to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes in the evenings. Swimwear is reserved for the beach and pool areas only.

8. Are there any activities to do outside of the wedding events?

Answer: Absolutely! Secrets Playa Mujeres offers many activities such as water sports, cooking classes, yoga, and even access to a world-class spa. You can also enjoy nearby excursions, including Mayan ruins tours, jungle adventures, or snorkeling in beautiful cenotes.

9. How far in advance should I book my room and flights?

Answer: To ensure the best rates and availability, we recommend booking your room and flights as early as possible—ideally 6 to 12 months in advance. This is especially important if you're traveling with a group. Please make your reservation through our wedding website, as no rooms are being held directly with the resort. A deposit of $150 per person is required to reserve your room, and final payments are due 65 days before your departure. We encourage you to book early to guarantee your stay!

10. Is tipping included in the all-inclusive package?

Answer: While tips are generally not included in the all-inclusive package, it is customary to leave gratuities for exceptional service. For example, it’s customary to tip housekeeping, bartenders, and restaurant servers. The general guideline is around $1-2 per drink or meal, but you can always tip more for outstanding service.

11. Are there any health requirements for traveling to Mexico?

Answer: As of now, there are no specific health requirements or vaccinations required for U.S. travelers visiting Mexico. However, we recommend checking the latest travel advisories and health recommendations from the CDC closer to your travel date to ensure the most up-to-date information.

12. What’s the best way to exchange currency while in Cancun?

Answer: Mexico’s official currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN), but U.S. dollars are widely accepted. However, you may get a better exchange rate by withdrawing pesos from an ATM or using exchange services. Many credit cards also work without foreign transaction fees. Be sure to notify your bank about your travel plans to avoid any issues with your card.

13. Can I use my cell phone in Cancun?

Answer: Yes, most U.S. cell phone providers offer international service in Mexico, but be sure to check with your carrier about roaming charges and plans. You can also purchase a local SIM card if you want a more affordable option for staying connected.
